THE MOTHER OF DENIM

Tim Kaeding and Lela Tillem, formerly of 7 for All Mankind and Citizens of Humanity, have developed a fresh new denim line called Mother. The duo spent the past several years devising new fits and developing materials that look like denim but feel like cashmere.

I can't wait to get my hands on the brainchildren of two of the best denim lines out there & hope my high expectations are met.

Bolts & Bracelets

I loved this DIY jewelery idea from one of my favorite bloggers A Pair & a Spair & had to share it.  I've been seeing a lot of this "stacked" ring & bracelet look lately & have always loved the look...

What's great about this look is that everything above can be found at a hardware or thrift store :).

Some photos of the "stacked" look below...

Get down to your local hardware store!  I've been seeing BOLTS everywhere lately, too!  Rings, pendants, charms... I love it all.

UPDATE: The Clean Fifteen & Dirty Dozen

Last year, I blogged about The Environmental Working Group's annual list of the "cleanest" & most contaminated commercially grown produce available in supermarkets in the US.

The annual study for 2011 has just been released & I thought I would share the list again since eating off the clean 15 & avoiding the dirty dozen (by buying organic) can significantly reduce your intake of pesticides & other carcinogenic & harmful additives in your produce.

Here's the list:

A rule of thumb that I follow for buying organic:
If you peel it or don't eat the otter layer of the veggie or fruit, it's okay to buy commercially grown.  If you eat the skin of the fruit or veggie or if there's no "peeling" involved, buy organic.  If you think about it, pesticides are sprayed directly onto your produce.  The outer layer absorbs the pesticides & protects the core of your food, making the it okay to eat.  Foods like spinach (there's no protective layer) or apples (you eat the outside of the fruit) should always be purchased organic so you're not ingesting those harmful pesticides.

Tribal Skirts

It officially feels like summertime in SoCal!  I pulled out an old Billabong skirt from last summer & made it "new" by belting it & wearing it with a silky white top & my Grecian gladiator sandals.  I got them two years ago in Greece & I'm not sure if they're even cute anymore (they're made of cloth & pretty thrashed) but they're so sentimental that I still wear them every chance I can get :).

Top from Nordstrom, belt from local boutique, skirt from Billabong, shoes from my trip to Greece, Michael Kors watch, Tiffany ring & necklace, H&M bracelets.

Get Twisted

The front-tie trend is popping up everywhere right now!  I love the look & think it's really flattering.  This work-appropriate version of the trend might be my first, but I guarantee I'll be adding more to my closet soon.

Revlon's Just Bitten

I've read a few reviews from fellow bloggers who've tried Revlon's lip stain called Just Bitten.  I usually use Benifit's lip stain, but since this drugstore version is a fraction of the price, I thought I'd give them a try.

What I love about Revlon's lip stain is they come in a variety of colors (not just a red & a pastel pink shade like Benefit).  Revlon's version is also really easy to apply, with the tip of the stain resembling a marker you use to "draw" on the stain.  The other side of the pen is a balm to give the matte stain a little sheen.

I love stains because you get the dramatic effect of color without the mess of a lipstick & they also tend to last a bit longer (I've worn Just Bitten a couple times in the last week & the stain seems to last a couple of hours before I had to reapply).

I purchased Gothic (top) which teems to be a bright true red & Twilight (bottom) which is a darker red.  I absolutely love the color of Twilight & have worn it day & night & even to work.  It's definitely versatile & work appropriate.

Wearing Twilight in the picture above.
